The Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic is reassuring that new nuclear units will not be launched unless all requirements for nuclear safety are met.

The Nuclear Regulatory Authority of the Slovak Republic (UJD) insists on its statement that the launch of Mochovce nuclear units will only be permitted if all requirements for nuclear safety and the positive results of all necessary tests are achieved. „We want to reiterate that acting as a central body of the state administration for nuclear supervision, we are authorized to perform the state supervision over the nuclear safety of nuclear installations. However, a permission holder, e.g. the operator of the nuclear facility has the primary liability for nuclear safety. We have been closely monitoring the construction of the third and forth nuclear unit in Mochovce and we have carried out controlling activities at the site since the launch of the project,“ director of UJD’s office Miriam Vachova emphasized. There are five local inspectors and another fifty regulator’s inspectors with the external help at the site. „We have been in touch with the person hiding behind the fake profile “Simonetta Tokareva“ on the social network since December 2017 and with Mr. Zadra (former employee in Mochovce – editor’s note) who was connected with this profile. We looked into all their motions and found out that most problems that the profile and Mr. Zadra pointed at had already been identified and addressed by the state and Slovenske Elektrarne,“ Vachova said.
