The regulatory authority is convinced that energy poverty must be tackled mainly as the problem of the social policy and the poverty itself.

Slovakia has introduced a new concept that protects consumers who meet energy poverty conditions. The concept was created by the Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO) again after the new management of the Office led by Lubomir Jahnatek had not agreed with the earlier version created by the experts at the Office led by Jozef Hojencik. „The concept also consists of specific proposals for complex and systemic solutions,“ URSO informed. The regulatory authority is convinced that energy poverty must be tackled mainly as the problem of the social policy and the poverty itself. The concept also includes the expanded implementation of EC energy packages, energy efficiency as well as contribution for housing and caretaking, food packages, minimum wage, allowance in poverty, marginalized groups and elimination of long-term unemployment.
