This year, Slovak electricity consumers will pay over 7% more via their bills to support renewable energy sources (RES) and high efficiency combined heat and power (CHP ). The Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO) assumes that consumers will spend 392 million euros on the support for green electricity this year. „Last year, the plans stood at 364 million euros,“ a spokesman for the Office, Radoslav Igaz, informed the portal vEnergetike.sk. He added that final figures for the last year will be released at the end of June. The so-called tariff for the system operation, which accounts for about 15% of the final electricity price for consumers, also includes support for electricity generated from national coal and electricity market operator’s activities. The Slovaks are expected to contribute with a sum of 95.4 million euros to national coal mining and 5.7 million euros to operator’s activities this year. According to the preliminary data, this means that the support for national coal mining will increase by 1 million euros year-on-year.
