Ministry gives permission to 17 projects this year
A large pumped-storage hydropower plant above the water reservoir Malinec and a small hydropower plant on the river Hron are planned in Slovakia.
The economy ministry has given permission to seventeen energy projects this year. These projects will create more than 640 MW of installed electricity capacity and over 180 MW of thermal capacity in Slovakia. Projects which have been green-lighted by the economy ministry this year include the construction of new energy sources as well as energy infrastructure. Last year, the ministry authorised 14 energy projects. An investor is not allowed to start the construction of the energy source or infrastructure without ministry’s compliance certificate which is issued to prove that the investment plan is in compliance with the long-term energy policy concept.
