Slovenske Elektrarne put the natural protection system at the third and fourth nuclear unit into operation. This system is an essential condition for delivering fresh nuclear fuel to both units.

The completion of the nuclear power plant Mochovce continues. The power utility Slovenske Elektrarne (SE), which is responsible for the project, put the physical protection system at the third and fourth unit into operation. “This system is an essential condition for delivering fresh nuclear fuel to both units,“ Slovenske Elektrarne informed the portal vEnergetike.sk. Fresh nuclear fuel could be delivered to the third unit in six months. Following the complex tests were successfully completed and the launch of the natural protection system, stricter measures concerning the control of persons and the entry of the motor vehicles into the protected premises have been in force since early May. “Under the valid legislation, these guarded and protected interior spaces must be created at least six months prior to the first delivery of nuclear material to the nuclear facility, e.g. before transporting fuel into the fresh fuel storage,“ SE stated.
