The Slovak economy ministry says that the recast EC regulation on the internal market for electricity may have a negative impact on EU member state’s right to select its own energy mix.

The European Commission has introduced a recast regulation on the internal market for electricity under which the Energy Union is to be established. The new directive revises, for instance, the conditions of the access to the grid for cross-country electricity exchanges. It lays down the major principles for the operation of the wholesale electricity markets with EU electricity, sets the free price-setting in wholesale markets and removes price obstacles. The Slovak economy ministry commented on the first version. The ministry also expressed reservations about the new draft.
