Czechs are poised to manage completion of Mochovce NPP

According to the Czech daily Hospodarske Noviny, Plzen-based company Skoda JS is in talks with the power utility Slovenske Elektrarne, respectively its majority owner Italian Enel, on taking over the position of the chief coordinator for the completion of Mochovce nuclear units.

Plzen-based company Skoda JS could win another lucrative contract for completing Mochovce NPP, the Czech daily Hospodarske Noviny informed in today’s issue. The daily wrote that Skoda JS is in talks on taking over the position on the chief coordinator for the construction and basically management of the completion with Slovenske Elektrarne, respectively its majority owner Italian Enel. „I can confirm this information. The work includes from project documentation to coordination of new blocks launch. It includes engineering work, but technology supply,“ Hospodarske Noviny quoted a spokesman for the company Skoda JS, Jan Stolar. He says that extending the scope of Plzen-based company on completion of Mochovce NPP would mean a contract worth „tens of millions of euros“. A decision on whether Skoda JS, owned by Russian engineering group OMZ, will win another contract for the completion of Mochovce is to be made by the end of this year.
