
The appointment of URSO head remains in cabinet’s hands
The Constitutional Court accepted Slovak president’s proposal concerning the amendment to the Act on Regulation in Network Industries for the further proceeding after preliminary negotiations, however, it rejected to suspend the effect of act’s two provisions that president is opposed to.
Slovak President Andrej Kiska has not yet fully succeeded at the Constitutional Court in regard to the amendment to the Act on Regulation in Network Industries. Although the court accepted his proposal for the further proceeding after preliminary negotiations, it rejected to suspend the effect of act’s two provisions that president is opposed to. Under one provision, the cabinet instead of president appoints the head of the Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO) while under the second provision, the economy and environment ministry may provide their stance on the approved decisions on energy and water prices.
