Petrol and diesel should be gradually replaced by alternative fuels such as electricity, liquefied and compressed natural gas, liquefied petroleum gas, hydrogen or liquid biofuels. The economy ministry has prepared twelve measures to promote alternative fuels. It plans to stimulate the sale of vehicles with alternative fuels with the direct financial subsidy. The development of alternative fuels infrastructure is also part of the plan. Alternative fuel vehicles should have lower taxes and several registration fees should be scrapped. One of the measures is also shortening the depreciation period of such vehicles, or introducing low-emission zones in towns and villages with the access for only alternative fuel vehicles.
