Economy Minister Peter Ziga as well as the highest representatives of the gas companies SPP, Eustream, SPP – Distribucia and Nafta agreed that Slovakia is facing no gas crisis threat.

Slovakia will not experience this winter season the gas crisis similar to the one in 2009 when the country was left without gas supplies for about two weeks, Economy Minister Peter Ziga as well as the highest representatives of the gas companies SPP, Eustream, SPP – Distribucia and Nafta agreed. „We can say that we are well-prepared for this winter season and citizens and companies may remain calm. If there are any disruptions in gas supplies from Russia via Ukraine, we are ready to ensure continual supplies,“ Minister Ziga announced at the press conference on Tuesday. According to the head of SPP, Stefan Sabik, current gas supplies from Russia via Ukraine are stable and without any swings. „I hope this situation maintains for the entire winter season. We have discussed several scenarios. The current situation is completely different from the situation in 2009. We are able to ensure gas supplies even in case of zero supplies from the East,“ stated Sabik.
