European Commissioner Maros Sefcovic expects the planned changes will accelerate the transition to clean energy, unlock the EU growth potential and create new jobs.

The European Commission (EC) presented its mega energy package of measures on Wednesday. This should form the basis for the Energy Union. European Commissioner responsible for the Energy Union, Maros Sefcovic, presented eight legislative proposals, four non-legislative proposals and nine energy analyses to his colleagues in the EC. „We expect these changes will speed up the transition to clean energy, unlock the EU growth potential and create new jobs,“ Sefcovic said at the meeting with the journalists. By mobilising up to 177 billion euros of public and private investment per year from 2021, this package can generate up to a 1% increase in GDP and create 900,000 new jobs.
