A group of experts will be established to seek possibilities for maintaining electricity generation at the power plant Vojany until 2030.

The coal-fired power plant Vojany will generate electricity at least in 2017, informed the political party Most-Hid whose MP, Elemer Jakab, lobbied the representatives of Slovenske Elektrarne for continuing the operation of loss-making power plant. Ministers’ meeting in Trebisov on Wednesday confirmed the Slovak government’s interest in maintaining the operation of the power plant Vojany. Economy Minister Peter Ziga said that the government is dealing with this issue. Minister says that there are technical possibilities for the continued operation of this facility. He added that a group of experts from the economy ministry, Slovenske Elektrarne, SEPS and the Regulatory Office for Network Industries would be established to seek possibilities for maintaining electricity generation at the power plant until 2030. „We can manage this,“ Prime Minister Robert Fico said following the Cabinet’s session.
